Artist's Comments

I used a different technique than I usually do for painting the skin with this... I'm really pleased with the way it turned out. :)

Many thanks to [link] for the reference.

Oil paints, 12x16 inches.

Wow - it looks soooo realistic! Wonderful details too! (does she have branch horns?)

This is amazingly beautiful. I would love to know more about how you did the colours. They are awe inspiring.

This is absolutely gorgeous! You are improving so much :) It is strange for me to see this, as I just finished a paining based on the same pic. Wonderful work! I was wondering, how do you get your paintings on the computer, digital camera?

Thank you, I'm glad you think I am improving.:)

I use a digital camera when I first finish a painting if it's oil paint, or if I don't have time to stitch up a scan right away. I replace them later with the scanned images.

Thank you.:)

Yes, I painted it using water soluble oils.

Thank you.:D For the colours I usually just pick a few and use them to make up the shades for everything. That way they all fit well together. For instance, I use the brown and green from the background to make the shadows of her face and hair... And with the flower I put in a bit of red like the one I used for her hair and the apples. I hope that helps. :)
